Thieves Caught In The Act May 4, 2003 Town of Hobgood Electric Dept. employees found two
young raccoons taking an early Sunday morning nap. Sacked
out on the cross arm of a 35 ft. utility pole, the furry bandits proved to be a
handful to remove. To prevent the masked mischief-makers from electrocuting
themselves, and possibly causing a flash to the lineman, the 7,200-volt
distribution line was de-energized before attempting to remove them. Once on the
ground, the young coons decided evidently that splitting up was the best course
